Quick answer
Smart meter issues are usually communication problems between the meter and your energy supplier — contact your supplier. This is not your electrician's responsibility.
Smart meters are installed and owned by your energy supplier — not by a private electrician. If your smart meter is not sending readings, the display has gone blank, or the in-home display is not updating, contact your energy supplier directly. Common issues include: loss of signal between the meter and the smart network (particularly with SMETS1 first-generation meters); the in-home display losing connection to the meter (try moving it closer to the meter); or the meter reverting to manual reading mode. Do not try to open or tamper with a smart meter — it belongs to your supplier. If you have moved house and the smart meter is not working, register with the new supplier who can reconnect it.
